Vacation Bible School is a great ministry in many of our Churches across Iowa. In fact, it was for many years the time when we saw more people come to Christ than in any other ongoing program. Many of our churches use this time to take a special offering which they designate to a mission cause or entity. “If you are looking for a fresh new recipient for those offerings here is another good one which we saw developing during our time of service in Alaska.”

The Mosaic Campus Ministry is the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at the University of Alaska – Anchorage, which is led by Scott Belmore. I recently received information regarding how they use special offerings from Churches like ours to minister to the students there.

Scott indicates, “ What a great year we have had at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. The only reason I can say that is because of God’s grace and your faithfulness to pray for us as we reach into the lostness on our campus. We are in our second year at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. We have been making some huge strides with students and some faculty.

With the funding from last years Vacation Bible School,  we were able to…
1.  Provide students with a copy of God’s Word
2.  Provide students with discipleship material
3.  Rent space on campus for The Gathering (weekly worship service)
4.  Provide meals for the students
5.  Provide leadership training and retreats
6.  Have spiritual conversations with students over coffee
7.  Provide material for our Journey Groups

Would you be willing to help us continue and to expand what God is doing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage? What are the odds that the mission offering from your church’s Vacation Bible School could go to help an Emerging Region Campus Ministry at the University of Alaska.
