Dr. Frank Page, Executive Director of the SBC Executive Committee, kept the crowd of nearly 100 ministers and spouses laughing with his down home stories of church life and his phrase: “I can’t tell you his name but it was _____. “ Dr. Page used an adaptation of Sheely’s Well Intentioned Dragons to address interpersonal relationships in the local church. Topics included: Categories of Difficult Persons, Habitations of Dragons and Suggestions for Dragon Relationships. He closed out his presentation with some helpful guidelines pastors can apply to criticisms they receive from their church family. Attendees had time for a splash in the hotel pool or sauna, shopping in the mall or just kicking back with some longtime friends for some cordial conversation and networking.
At the close of the retreat, participants elected Pastor Rod Bradley of True Bible Baptist Church in Des Moines to be the President of the Pastor’s Conference for 2014 and Pastor John Jakes of Calvary Baptist in Indianola to be the Vice President.
