Pastor Ken Livingston, President of the Baptist Convention of Iowa

I am calling a special meeting of the convention, to occur on April 2, 2016 at the Stoney Creek Hotel (5291 Stoney Creek Ct., Johnston, IA) at approximately 12:00 PM (noon). The reason for this meeting is for the sole purpose of the convention to approve the Executive Board’s recommendation to sell the office building owned by the BCI. According to Article VIII, Section 4 – of our Constitution – “The state office shall not be sold or leased without the approval of the messengers in an annual or called meeting.”

According to Bylaw III – number 3 – “Special meetings of the Convention shall be called by the president upon approval of the administrative committee. Those present, after at least a thirty-day notice has been presented by the president, shall constitute a quorum.”
The Administrative Committee affirmed my decision to call a special meeting at the Executive Board meeting on February 13, 2016. We all felt like this was an appropriate and necessary next step following the Executive Board moving to close the offices on April 30, 2016. Once the offices are closed, we would like the authority to sell the property instead of holding on to it and/or having it sit empty.
Feel free to ask questions or give feedback to Tim or me about this subject.
