How To Become a Trained Disaster Relief Volunteer

  • Before attending any training please complete the Volunteer Packet and bring it with you or mail it in early.
  • You must attend the Disaster Relief basic course Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.
  • You must also attend at least one unit training class.
  • Background Check Authorization – will be completed and must be acceptable.
  • ID Badges will be issued after a background check is complete and completed volunteer packet is returned. The badges will be mailed after the training.

Already a Volunteer with a Cap and a Badge? To update your credentials for three years:

  • You must attend the Disaster Relief basic course Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.
  • Update your Personal Information and Release Form if necessary.
  • Background Check Authorization – will be completed and must be acceptable.
  • The new badge will be mailed after the training.

Classes planned include:

  • Involving Southern Baptists In Disaster Relief (Required for all attendees)
  • Feeding Manual Classroom & Safe Food Handling
  • Mud Out/Recovery
  • Chaplaincy-Operational Stress First Aid

Cost is $30 for NEW volunteers

Includes:

  • Disaster Relief Tee Shirt

  • Devotion Book
  • Background Check
  • Lanyard & ID Badge
  • Certificate
  • Training Materials

Cost is $10 for returning volunteers

Includes:

  • Background Check
  • Certificate
  • Training Materials

Training is open to all adults and youth in 7th grade and above.

Meals will be provided at the church by a free will offering.

Additional Disaster Relief shirts, jackets, and sweatshirts will be available for purchase at the training event.
