Nearly all of us in Iowa have been inundated with information on the various presidential candidates. For some, the gathering of election news is nearly addicting, others just want the whole thing to be over.

Each of us has a stewardship to be involved in civic issues. To not be involved in issues of justice through the political process doesn’t maintain neutrality, but has the practical result of making a deliberate choice for the opposing view.

The Baptist Convention of Iowa is hosting one of the top cultural commentators of our day, Dr. Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission to speak at First Family Church in Ankeny, Iowa at 6:30-8:30pm on Monday, January 25, 2016. This is one week before the Iowa caucuses. This first session is entitled “God and Country Crucified” and is open to all.

The second session is entitled “Engaging the Culture without Losing the Gospel” and is specifically designed for pastors and other church leaders. This session will be from 12:00 noon until 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 26th  also at First Family Church in Ankeny. Lunch will be provided, but we ask you to register in advance, here and pay $5 at the door to offset the costs.

During the week when our nation especially turns to Iowa we want to take the opportunity to give specific direction to churches as they steward their civic involvement. We a grateful that Dr. Moore has agreed to be with us and instruct us from God’s Word during this critical time in our nation’s history.
