Press Release August 26, 2013

The Executive Director Search Committee of the Baptist Convention of Iowa has begun seeking candidates to fill the position of Executive Director-Treasurer, which was left vacant by the retirement of Dr. Jimmy Barrentine in September of 2011. During this time the BCI has been led by Intentional Interim Executive Director-Treasurer, Dr. Thomas L. Law, III, who has led the convention through a restructuring process.

The Baptist Convention of Iowa began as an association of 25 churches in 1965. The state work grew to a Fellowship status in 1972 and became a state Convention in 1995. To date, 110 churches and/or missions are established in a multi-cultural state in urban and rural settings.

Committee Chairman, Pastor Dan Doolin of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Wapello, states, “We are looking for a Southern Baptist man who possesses a servant leadership style with a desire to carry out the Great Commission by helping to start new churches and strengthening existing ones.” Advanced college and/or seminary degrees are desirable with experience in missions and ministry administration.

Resumes are no longer being received.
