The Friendship Baptist Center in Des Moines, exists to build relationships in this poverty impacted community by offering empowerment through education, development and spiritual growth opportunities for kids, youth and adults. It is their desire that all persons would have the opportunity to know and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Friendship Center seeks to provide daily care for individuals and families within the neighborhood while also seeking to develop community among Center neighbors and volunteers. The Center reaches approximately 8,000 people annually, through Hunger, After-School and Conversational English ministries.

The Center utilizes local churches to staff most of their ongoing ministries. They involve volunteers in teaching Bible Studies to large groups as well as sharing their faith in one on one settings at the Center. A congregation has formed out of the Center on Sunday Nights that provides worship and discipleship opportunities for our community. In addition to providing ministry to their community, the Friendship Center also provides ministry training for churches and individuals from across the state. From developing local leaders to training ongoing volunteers, the Center values and places emphasis on raising leaders to impact their world for Christ.
