A total of 112 men and boys attended this year’s retreat at the Y-Training Conference Center in Boone on January 25-26.  The men and boys were challenged around the theme of Mighty Men of God using the scripture from I Chronicles Chapter 12.  During the retreat the men and boys had opportunity to engage what it means to be a Mighty Man of God, to become men of vision, wisdom, truth, love, and holiness in their homes and local churches.

Men had the opportunity to meet in their local church groups to pray for their local men’s ministry in their community.  They discussed implementing ideas on how to be more effective in reaching men in their communities.

On Saturday morning worship a very special time was given to Fathers/Sons sharing in commitments to each other, followed by a time of Grandfathers/Grandsons commitment time.  Many public and private decisions were made during this brief exchange.

Dr. Paul David Freed, President of Mighty Men of God organization was extremely intentional and committed to sharing Christ with those in attendance.  His presentations, those sometimes very dramatic in presentation, clearly communicated the call from God to be mighty men of God in their homes, churches, and community.

Each man was given an evaluation form to evaluate this year’s Mighty Men of God Conference Retreat:  The men were asking to respond without their signature. Here is but an example of those responses:

  •  “This was a great retreat”
  •  “love the retreat this time of the year”
  • “wish my pastor was here”
  •  “It was so good – we just needed it to be longer”
  • “this was the greatest retreat I’ve ever attended”
  •  “I see my Dad in a better way than before I came”
  •  “If I return home unchanged, shame on me, this has been a challenge for me”

Many decisions were made, both private and public. Of the public, 3 were men asking Christ to save them.  They are in process with their local church.

At the conclusion of this year’s retreat, men and boys were asked to save the date for next year’s retreat January 24-25, 2014.
