Dwight and Mara Williams Christopher, Sarah, and Amanda IMB Missionaries serving in Spain

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Iowa Baptist Convention,

Greetings from the Blue Ridge Mountains of western Virginia! We are currently on a stateside assignment, serving as Missionaries in Residence at Bluefield College, Bluefield, Virginia. We have been here since early July and Lord willing will be returning to Madrid in early January.

Some of you know that Dwight, is an “Iowa boy”, raised in Urbana, a small town between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. He graduated from U.N.I. back in 1980. Mara is from São Paulo, Brazil. We have been with the IMB for 20 years now, serving in the country of Spain. Over the years it has been our privilege to speak in a number of Iowa churches. Our “home church” in Iowa is Immanuel in Cedar Rapids.

We want to say a big “Thank You” for your continued support and prayers for our denomination’s missions effort. Truly this year’s theme of “One Sacred Effort” speaks to our hearts and we are sure that it does to yours also. Whether we go, send, or whatever role we play in fulfilling the Great Commission, it is all so very important! Someone so accurately declared that, “the battle for world missions is won or lost at the local church”. How true! Your giving to the Cooperative Program and to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering makes such a huge difference. With Lottie Moon offerings, we are able to buy Bibles and tracts for our literature ministry in Madrid, do promotion for our sports camps, hold lady’s craft seminars, and so much more.

Southern Baptists are our life-line! Never before are we faced with a world with such open-door opportunities. In many parts of the world there are record numbers coming to Christ, church planting movements taking countries by storm, all of these incredible happenings in which God is asking us, “Are you with me?” “Does your heart beat for the world as mine does?” May all of us, this Christmas season, pray that God would give us a “God-sized” faith goal for Lottie Moon. Lottie herself said it so well, “How many there are … who imagine that because Jesus paid it all, they need pay nothing, forgetting that the prime object of their salvation was that they should follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ in bringing back a lost world to God.”

Many blessings to you all! If you and your church would like to receive our e-mail prayer letter, just write to dwilliamsinspain@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to add you to the list!

Yours and His,
Dwight and Mara Williams Madrid, Spain
