Friendship Center Christmas (2)By Mandi McCluer

The Friendship Baptist Center, a mission located among one of the most poverty stricken areas in Des Moines, would like to thank all of its generous donors and volunteers who made giving possible during the holiday season. Children and youth who regularly attend and their families, as well as the moms and children who gather for Mom’s Night, were blessed with much needed Christmas presents. Fifty children and mothers filled out wish lists, asking for two clothing items, shoes, and something fun. These lists were then distributed to individuals to collect. The recipients were so excited unwrapping their gifts! There were plentiful grins, happy exclamations, and squeals of delight as they excitedly compared their new treasures.

In addition, the Friendship Baptist Center also donated 65 blankets to adults, 15 gift cards to children who did not attend their programs, and 25 hams to families. That’s 155 gifts in all. What a wonderful way to show Christ’s concern for the needs of those struggling with poverty, as well as His deep love for them!
