SUMMARY:Virtual 2020 BCI Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Iowa Southern Baptists will be gathering virtually on November 16th–19th for the 2020 BCI Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for Iowa church leaders to move “Forward in Faith” to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in Iowa and beyond. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 2020 BCI ANNUAL MEETING is going virtual\nJoin us online each evening on Monday\, November 16th through Thursday\, November 19th.\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VIRTUAL MEETING\nWe are changing the format of this year’s event. Registration will be free but you need to register in order to receive event materials. By providing your address we will be able to mail you an Annual Meeting Experience Box with printed materials and resources to help you get the most out of this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n So\, what will the Virtual Annual Meeting be like? \nWe aren’t planning to simply stream a typical meeting. Instead\, we aim to deliver in-depth discussions on essential topics that are impacting Iowa church leaders today.  \nWe are scheduling interviews with our top national leaders to discuss current topics such as: increasing Cooperative Program giving and the significance of “Great Commission Baptists.”  \nWe’ll also talk with pastors and ministry leaders around Iowa about issues that hit close to home such as new BCI affiliate churches\, what’s going on with church development and church planting in Iowa\, and much\, much more. \nYou won’t want to miss these critical discussions so register now to participate. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ABOUT THE DECISION TO GO VIRTUAL\nThe decision to move our 2020 Annual Meeting to a virtual format was not easy and was based on a number of significant factors. Below is a short list of compelling reasons to host the event online this year. We pray that next year we will be able to resume our in-person gathering. \n\nOur primary concern is the health and safety of our pastors and church leaders. We received feedback from multiple pastors and churches expressing concerns about a large gathering of leaders coming together from across the state as well as many guests who were invited from around the country.\nMany of our SBC national entities and other ministry partners communicated they will not be able to send personnel. \nThere were several guests who were to be invited as part of our 25th Anniversary celebration who would not have been able to travel in for the event. NOTE: The 25th Anniversary celebration has been pushed back until 2021.\nIt is very expensive to host an event the size of the Annual Meeting and it did not seem like good financial stewardship considering that we were expecting many would not be willing or able to attend. \nWe are able to conduct all necessary convention business online via the virtual format. We will be gathering feedback from pastors regarding two key recommendations at Town Hall meetings which will be hosted in October.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER

SUMMARY:MBTS: "For the Church" Virtual Conference
DESCRIPTION:MBTS “For the Church” Virtual Conference\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nFor The Church Conference is a vital part of Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College’s aim to train ministry leaders for the magnification of God through the building up of the local church. This is the reason For The Church exists. Though we will not be meeting in Kansas City\, you can help us host the virtual conference by gathering your church\, friends\, family\, or other groups and still participate in FTC! \n\n \n \n \n September 28-29\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Host a FTC20 Group\nFor the last five years\, we’ve had the joy of hosting our For The Church National Conference here in Kansas City. \nThis year\, we are changing things. Rather than hosting FTC in Kansas City\, we are asking you to help us host FTC. We want to create a moment across the nation and the world where we consider the call to ministry as we hear from speakers and worship together. To do this\, we need your help! \nWe’d love for you to host a group of church members\, family\, or friends to participate in our first-ever For the Church (Virtual) National Conference. That’s why we’re providing a 20% discount on tickets for groups of 5 or more. We’ll also send FTC notebooks and discussion questions so you can go deeper after the sessions. The more people you can gather\, the more we’ll send you to help make the experience of FTC feel just like Kansas City. \nVisit the website for registration and details about the new conference format!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Have a BCI church story to share?\nWe love to share stories of BCI churches and draw attention to the work God is doing in our convention. SUMMARY:IMB Virtual Sending Celebration
DESCRIPTION:IMB’s first virtual Sending Celebration scheduled for June 9\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n by IMB Staff \nSince 1845\, nearly 25\,000 Southern Baptist missionaries have shared the gospel\, made disciples\, planted churches and settled their families in 185 countries around the world. Sending Celebrations are a time to commission new missionaries who are furthering the vision of reaching all peoples with the gospel of Jesus Christ. \nConsidering the necessary cancellation of the SBC Annual Meeting in Orlando\, Florida\, where the Sending Celebration was to take place\, IMB has moved the celebration to an online event on June 9 at 7:00pm EDT / 6:00pm CDT. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n DOWNLOAD IMB PRAYER CARD\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 59 NEW MISSIONARIES TO BE SENT\nFifty-nine new missionaries and two who were appointed in January will serve within each of IMB’s nine global affinities: the Americas; Central Asia; Deaf; East Asia; Europe; Northern Africa and the Middle East; South Asia; Southeast Asia; and Sub-Saharan Africa. \nJoin the Facebook Live event on June 9 at 7 p.m. EDT on IMB’s Facebook and Vimeo pages. You and your church will have the opportunity to hear the stories of how God has called these missionaries into His service. You will also be able to join others in praying over them as they prepare to make their homes overseas for the sake of the gospel. \nA downloadable and printable prayer card is provided to help you keep these missionaries in your prayers. These cards and the invitation to the virtual Sending Celebration can be shared with your church families. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n learn about cooperative program\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n why give to the cooperative program?\nOne distinctive of Southern Baptists is that they come together to give toward greater ministry. SUMMARY:Online Discussion – After the Shutdown: Part 2
DESCRIPTION:After the Shutdown: Part 2 Defining the New Normal\n\nWednesday\, April 29 • 1:00pm • Online via Zoom\n\nIf there is one universal aspect of this season we are in\, it is this: no one knows what the future will look like. Still\, it is better to consider the options and have a plan in place to make rapid adjustments as needed rather than wait and simply respond to events as they happen. \n\n\nFor some\, their church will see little change from a pre-COVID-19 body to a post-COVID-19 body. For many\, however\, the road ahead leads to an entirely new normal. How do we plan for the new normal? What aspects do we need to consider as churches? What are the factors that will impact our new normal?\n\nThese are all questions that no one has answers to\, but together we can brainstorm possible options that will allow us to be more proactive and move toward a defined outcome rather than let the winds of change blow us in any direction they so choose.\n\n“If one does not know to which port one is sailing\, no wind is favorable.” — Seneca\n\n\n\n\n \n REGISTER

SUMMARY:Webinar – Uncovering Personal Blind Spots
DESCRIPTION:Uncovering Personal Blind Spots\, Discovering God’s Grace\n\nwith Pastor Tony Rose\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nWednesday\, April 22 • 1:00pm Online via Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nA foundational piece for staying fit in ministry and fit for ministry is understanding the inseparable connection between knowing yourself and knowing Christ. It is not easy to accurately know yourself. The eyes of the soul are like the eyes in your head\, they see everything but themselves. Others see things in us that we are blind to. When those blind spots are pointed out we usually get defensive. God sees all our blind spots and graciously points them out. We even get offended at God expressing his love this way because he uncovers things we do not see and do not like. But he only points them out to open greater avenues for us to receive his grace.\nJohn Newton expressed it well when he wrote to a friend about his own walk with Jesus. “In one sense every new day is filed up with new things\, new mercies on the Lord’s part\, new ingratitude on mine; instances of the vileness of my nature\, and new proofs of the power of sovereign pardoning grace; new hills of difficulty\, new valleys of humiliation; and now and then (though alas! very short and seldom)\, new glimpses of what I would be\, and where I would be. The everlasting love of God\, the unspeakable merits of Christ’s righteousness\, and the absolute freeness of the gospel promises\, these form the threefold cord by which my soul maintains a hold of that which is within the veil.”\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n LEARN MORE ABOUT PASTOR TONY ROSE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nAccurately seeing yourself is the door to actually receiving God’s grace for life and ministry. SUMMARY:The ONE Conference for Women
DESCRIPTION:The ONE Conference was born out of a desire to provide a place for women to gather from all over the Midwest. We wanted a place for women from every age group\, from all walks of life\, from different churches to find hope\, encouragement\, challenge and change in the ONE true God and from the teaching of His Word by a trusted Bible teacher. \n \nONE Fall 2019\nSeptember 27-28\, 2019\nCornerstone Church Ames\, Iowa\nGuest Speaker Colleen Searcy\nColleen was our featured guest at ONE2017 and we are simply over the moon excited to have her back. She brings the perfect mix of grace and truth in her teaching style. We think you’ll agree! \nIn the early years of ministry\, God kindled within Colleen a deep affection for studying and teaching the scriptures. She deeply desires to see women anchor their hope in the God of the Bible as they get to know Him through the study of His Word. She serves as Minister to Women at Church at the Cross in Grapevine\, Texas\, and she speaks at women’s retreats and conferences throughout the year. \nColleen and her husband\, Wes\, have served in churches together in Florida\, Colorado\, and Texas for over 20 years. Wes is president of NEXT Worldwide\, a mission organization that mobilizes students and adults to plant churches around the world. She loves being the mom of her two teenage boys\, Sam and Tate. \nYou can learn more about Colleen on her website: www.colleensearcy.com \nREGISTER
