A mission team from New Bridge Church is headed to Arua, Uganda. This marks the 10th year in a row that a team has gone from New Bridge. The church has been partners with IMB missionaries Stan and Pam Wafler and their family the entire time. The partnership strategy at first was trying to find a “person of peace” around which a local congregation could be built.
However, after a time, the Waflers sensed God leading them to work with students (high school/college age) and to disciple them through biblical storying and modeling using the MAWL method. MAWL stands for Model, Assist, Watch and Leave. Some years the team participating in training before sharing biblical stories in surrounding villages. At least 30 of the students have become believers and/or followed Christ in baptism. In the last two years, several national students, Tabon, Richard, Jacob, Eric, Richard, Arnold and Gloria have been a part of the leadership team.
This year, the team from Iowa and 3 members from a Florida congregation, Murdock Baptist Church, will help students by modeling Biblical leadership, hygiene, Bible storying and life skills.
