The Salt Company’s vision for Iowa State’s campus is to reach more people than ever with the gospel of Jesus Christ. On August 28th we kicked off another year of ministry with that same vision! And it was an incredible day, from start to finish.
At seven in the morning, in the pouring rain, Salt staff and tech boys set the stage for the kickoff that was scheduled to be on Central Campus later that night. As they were soaked to the bone, they began to pray that the rain would stop by lunchtime and not pick back up again until everything was loaded back into trailers. The clock struck eleven a.m. and the rain came to a halt. Throughout the rest of the afternoon the sun came out, the grass dried up, and before too long people began to pour into the south lawn on Central Campus. By eight o’ clock p.m., over 1700 students had arrived for The Salt Company kickoff!
Throughout the course of the night students were able to engage in epic worship, hear the gospel boldly proclaimed, and get connected into small group Bible studies. And the prayer that God would keep the rain until things were loaded back up after the event? It was answered. At about ten-thirty p.m. the last gearbox was shut, and in that exact moment the rain came and it came hard. It was an incredible sight to see – we got goosebumps! God is good to us.
The entire day was quite the thing to witness, to say the least; trying to describe everything just will not do it justice! However, we are confident it is a day and kickoff we will never forget. We also anticipate God will only continue to do great things throughout the course of the semester.
