By Joe Quick, Executive Director, Friendship Center
The first annual Friendship Gala raised over $1,700 for the center with a goal of 3k! I want to thank everyone who attended our Gala and made it such a success. We have made many changes inside of the building., and we now have our new outdoor signs installed.
Working at the center has been the best eight months of my life, and I cannot thank you enough for allowing myself to work for you here at the center. We are seeing an increase in attendance for our Food Pantry and Family Fun Nights each month and will hire a new Kids Club Director on July 1st. We have had some excellent candidates interview.
We are also looking at adding a mental health bible study meetings for our community and any supporting church members at the center in the fall so please pray for direction in how that will be handled. Please also pray for Summer Camps as they begin next Monday. We are partnering with Saydel School District to provide free school meals for every kid that walks through our door, saving the center a lot of money. Please pray and consider donating money to the center to repaint our building in July. Campers on a Mission will be coming to provide free labor and help us power wash and paint our building to give it a little TLC that is badly needed.
This summer will be jam-packed for the center. We are visiting over 12 churches, setting up booths at Ankeny Summerfest, Ragbrai and Valley Junction Farmers Market.
