August has been fast paced and thrilling at Salt Company in Ames. Big ministry events included the Freshman Kickoff, gospel follow-ups, and the overall Salt Kickoff. We saw God do some exciting things in each of these areas.
The staff and leadership team have been praying for 1,000 new students to attend the Freshman Kickoff. We ended up seeing 1,031 attend. From that kickoff, the freshman team and student leaders who are leading freshman connection groups began gospel follow-ups by making connections with every freshman who filled out an “about me” card. It was unbelievable to see how God used this to draw so many to himself. We are already seeing fruit in salvation this fall.
We prayed that we would see 2,000 Iowa State students attend the Salt Kickoff event at Harvester Plaza. We had 2,212 attend and were blown away with God’s faithfulness in answering our prayer. One of the big pushes of the Kickoff was to create an environment where these students could join 1 of our 168 connection groups. This was done to help Salt Company feel less like a group of 1,500 attending a Thursday night gathering and more like a small group of students who can walk along side of other students and push them toward everything God has for them.
The Kickoff initiated our normal Thursday night gatherings. We will continue this rhythm throughout the semester. Please be praying that God continues to draw new students into the Salt Company ministry pipeline and God is glorified with all that happens throughout the semester.
I want to say how thankful we are for your support here at Salt Company. God is using your investment in really cool ways and I feel so privileged to be apart of this.
