New Church Plant Responds to Flood in Spencer

Last weekend, faced with catastrophic flooding in nearby cities, Church Planter Daniel Clements led Corridor Church to skip their Sunday service and aid victims by organizing a donation center.

Last weekend, church planter Daniel Clements faced a dilemma as he prepared to lead Sunday services for Corridor Church in Milford. Catastrophic flooding in nearby towns presented many opportunities to help those in need and the Okoboji Community School District needed the church’s gathering space in the middle school to stage a donation center. Instead of finding an alternate meeting location, Clements decided to lead his congregation to “be the hands and feet of Jesus,” he said. Instead of gathering to worship through song and preaching, Corridor Church showed up to worship by organizing food, clothing, and other essential supplies to be distributed in nearby Spencer.

Looking ahead as the waters recede, Clements predicts the greatest need in the area will be for volunteers to help with cleaning out the homes and businesses affected by the flooding. Those interested in helping should contact Gared Shaffer, BCI’s Disaster Relief director.

Corridor Church launched public services in April of this year and is the latest Send Network church plant in Iowa.
