BCI Team Visits Central Asia to Advance Daniel Project Partnerships

From November 17th to 27th, a team from the Baptist Convention of Iowa (BCI) traveled to Central Asia to deepen relationships and advance partnerships through the Daniel Project. These development trips are crucial for building trust and collaboration, turning initial connections made over email and phone calls into meaningful partnerships for ministry.

The team included Tim Lubinus, Executive Director of the Baptist Convention of Iowa, Tim Trudeau, Pastor of Grace Church in Boone, and Paul Miguez, Minister of Missions at First Family Church in Ankeny.

Building Partnerships in Central Asia

The trip began in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where the team met with one of our key Daniel Project Field Coordinators, Dr. Mihai Malancea from Divitia Gratiae University in Moldova. Together, they hosted a training session for Uyghur believers, organized by Pastor CorbanJan, a Daniel Project field personnel member and associate pastor of a local church in Almaty. This cooperative event exemplified the unity and shared purpose of the mission.

Next, the team traveled to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, joined by Dr. Malancea. There, they met with three Daniel Project church planters, gaining valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of church planting in this region. These four church planters are part of the 51 Daniel Project personnel serving among the unreached in 11 countries.

The trip also included meetings with partners from the SBC International Mission Board (IMB) in both Almaty and Bishkek. These discussions focused on strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new avenues for expanding the mission.

This trip highlights the Daniel Project’s growing impact across a broad region, and the Baptist Convention of Iowa’s dedication to equipping near-cultural church planters to bring the gospel to hard-to-reach places.

Expanding the Gospel’s Reach Together

We invite your church to consider supporting the project through regular giving via the Daniel Project website. Also, we invite BCI church leaders to see the work in person by joining the 2025 Vision Trip to Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Ephesus from April 21st through May 1st, 2025. Will you consider joining the April 2025 Vision Trip?
