The New Testament teaching and example is for churches to work together; it is a foundational principle that we can do more together than separately.
We partner with churches and other ministries to extend ministry to new neighborhoods and population segments within Iowa and around the world for mutual support (1 Corinthians 16: 1-4; Acts 11:27-30; Philippians 4:15-20).
We gather for celebration, fellowship, prayer, and training (Acts 14:23; Acts 15; Acts 20; Acts 21:17-19; 1 Thessalonians 3).
As a convention, we are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention including the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, Seminaries, and Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. The primary way we support the Southern Baptist Convention is through The Cooperative Program.
As a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, we have approve and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message as our doctrinal statement.
For over 25 years, the churches of BCI have united in partnership for gospel ministry as a state convention. Yet, this collaborative effort is rooted in a history of faithful ministry that extends far beyond the establishment of BCI, encompassing many years of dedicated service of many Iowa pastors & church leaders.
