August is kickoff month for college ministries all across the country, and Salt DSM is no exception. As students returned to college we spend a great deal of the final two weeks in August on campus seeking to build relationships with students who are new to college or looking for a fresh start to the year. This year, in particular, has been more difficult to get onto campus in formal capacities, tabling for example, so we had to rely far more heavily on building organic relationships.

As August 29th, kickoff night, drew closer and closer we had to pray diligently and rely on God in whole new ways because of our inability to get the word out as we have in the past, and as he always is God proved his faithfulness. God blessed Salt DSM with 120 attendees Thursday for the kickoff! From 7:00-8:00 we had a ton of yard games and free Chick-Fil-A available to anybody who stopped by. It was such a blast and a great way to get people re-connected or connected for the first time! After that, we moved to the basement of Cottage Grove for the first-ever Salt in the basement! What an awesome time of worshiping the Lord and hearing from his word. Immediately after that, we had students get plugged into connection groups and we are so excited to see the life change that God will do in these small groups throughout the year as they strive to look more like Jesus together.
