The story of how Kaylee came to know Christ demonstrates how God uses his people as coworkers with him in the gospel work of salvation.
In 1 Corinthians 3:7-9, Paul says, “So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his labor. For we are God’s coworkers. You are God’s field, God’s building.”
During Apartment Blitz, an evening in which the Salt leadership team hands out flyers for our kickoff at different apartment complexes, Rylie, one of our student leaders, had a brief conversation with a girl named Kaylee. She invited her to come to our kickoff and told her a bit about Salt Company. A few days later, another student leader, Kayla, and her friend, who also attends Salt, started talking to a girl at Big Creek beach. Come to find out, it was Kaylee. Kayla invited her to come to Salt that Thursday and exchanged contact information. A late work-night and a popped tire prevented Kaylee from coming to the first two weeks of Salt, but she was determined to come. Kayla and Rylie were both intentional about greeting Kaylee when she came to Salt Company—saving her a seat, introducing her to people, and inviting her to hang out afterward.
One evening, another student leader, Eric, organized a hangout and invited all of Salt Company to come. Rylie rode with Kaylee and began an intentional conversation that led to the Gospel. While Kaylee didn’t receive Christ that evening, the seeds were planted. Rylie continued to connect with her and, the following Thursday after Salt, had another intentional conversation with Kaylee. This time, Kaylee was ready to receive Christ as her Savior.
All of our student leaders and the staff team had been praying for Kaylee since Kayla bumped into her at the beach. The Lord was faithful to answer our prayers, and he used our student leaders to do so.
