Virtual 2020 BCI Annual Meeting
November 16, 2020 - November 19, 2020
FreeIowa Southern Baptists will be gathering virtually on November 16th–19th for the 2020 BCI Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for Iowa church leaders to move “Forward in Faith” to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in Iowa and beyond.
2020 BCI ANNUAL MEETING is going virtual
Join us online each evening on Monday, November 16th through Thursday, November 19th.
REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VIRTUAL MEETING
We are changing the format of this year’s event. Registration will be free but you need to register in order to receive event materials. By providing your address we will be able to mail you an Annual Meeting Experience Box with printed materials and resources to help you get the most out of this event.
So, what will the Virtual Annual Meeting be like?
We aren’t planning to simply stream a typical meeting. Instead, we aim to deliver in-depth discussions on essential topics that are impacting Iowa church leaders today.
We are scheduling interviews with our top national leaders to discuss current topics such as: increasing Cooperative Program giving and the significance of “Great Commission Baptists.”
We’ll also talk with pastors and ministry leaders around Iowa about issues that hit close to home such as new BCI affiliate churches, what’s going on with church development and church planting in Iowa, and much, much more.
You won’t want to miss these critical discussions so register now to participate.
ABOUT THE DECISION TO GO VIRTUAL
The decision to move our 2020 Annual Meeting to a virtual format was not easy and was based on a number of significant factors. Below is a short list of compelling reasons to host the event online this year. We pray that next year we will be able to resume our in-person gathering.
- Our primary concern is the health and safety of our pastors and church leaders. We received feedback from multiple pastors and churches expressing concerns about a large gathering of leaders coming together from across the state as well as many guests who were invited from around the country.
- Many of our SBC national entities and other ministry partners communicated they will not be able to send personnel.
- There were several guests who were to be invited as part of our 25th Anniversary celebration who would not have been able to travel in for the event. NOTE: The 25th Anniversary celebration has been pushed back until 2021.
- It is very expensive to host an event the size of the Annual Meeting and it did not seem like good financial stewardship considering that we were expecting many would not be willing or able to attend.
- We are able to conduct all necessary convention business online via the virtual format. We will be gathering feedback from pastors regarding two key recommendations at Town Hall meetings which will be hosted in October.
