2019 BCI Ministry Life Retreat April 25-27, 2019 – Hotel Renovo, Des Moines, Iowa

The BCI Ministry Life Retreat, at Hotel Renovo in Des Moines, is an opportunity to get away for a few days, fellowship with other pastoral staff from around the state, and hear excellent teaching. This year’s theme is “Mere Hope: Ministry in an Age of Cynicism.” The retreat will include encouraging talks, fellowship and discussion, good food, and free time to rest and relax. EVENT SPEAKER

Our speaker is Jason Duesing. Dr. Duesing is the academic Provost and Associate Professor of Historical Theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & College. He came to MBTS after serving for more than a decade on the administrative leadership team and faculty at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Duesing earned his Ph.D. in Historical Theology and Baptist Studies from Southwestern Seminary in 2008. He also holds a M.Div. from Southeastern Seminary and a B.A. in Speech Communications from Texas A&M University in College Station. Duesing serves as a research fellow for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, on the board of directors for the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, academic editor of the Midwestern Journal of Theology, and general editor for For the Church resources. He is also a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, where he currently serves on the Nominations Committee and the review board for the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. Duesing is married to Kalee, and together they have two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve: Gracyn, Ford, Lindsey, and George. His most recent book, Mere Hope: Life in an Age of Cynicism, was published by B&H Books in 2018. Learn more about Jason at his website (jgduesing.com).

Emily Jensen is the co-founder of Risen Motherhood, currently serving as the Content Director and the co-host of the weekly podcast. Her first book, Risen Motherhood, co-authored with Laura Wifler releases in September 2019. Emily is a member at Grand Avenue Baptist Church where she serves on the women’s ministry team, the leadership training and equipping team, and in the preschool nursery. She loves accumulating stacks of books, teaching her kids how to build a roaring fire, and knowing that the coffee is prepped for the next morning. Emily, her husband, and their five young children reside in Ames, Iowa.
