The Baptist Convention of Iowa hosted its annual Ministry Life Retreat at the Hotel Renovo in Clive. More than 60 men and women participated in this year’s event. The theme this year was Mere Hope: Ministry in an Age of Cynicism. The speaker was Dr. Jason Duesing, academic Provost and Associate Professor of Historical Theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

“The emphasis of this event,” noted Eric Schumacher, the organizer of this year’s retreat, “is an opportunity to get away for a few days, fellowship with other pastoral staff from around the state, and hear excellent teaching.” Feedback from pastors and wives attending the retreat underscore this emphasis.

The Baptist Convention of Iowa covers a portion of the cost of the Ministry Life Retreat for each attendee in order to make this affordable for pastors and staff from churches of any size.

“It is a blessing to give our pastors and other church leaders time to be with their spouse away from the busyness of life and to spend time with fellow pastoral couples in an atmosphere of good food, good fellowship, and a relaxed schedule,” said Chris Eller, associate executive director of the BCI.

Plans are already underway for next year’s retreat. Watch the newsletter and our website for more information coming soon.
