The Salt Company in Iowa City is anticipating great things this year after their most successful Fall Kickoff events.
The Freshmen Group kickoff on Monday August 25th had 170 students pack out an old Church building in downtown Iowa City. It was a highlight for them to hear 4 of our student leaders share about how God had transformed their lives in college. Many of those same students came to our Salt Kickoff on Thursday August 28th. 325 students heard the gospel preached at the Englert Theatre. It seemed as if 3/4 of those students signed up to be in a small group.
One student in particular, named Mike, came to the kickoff because he filled out a survey and won a free gift card. He ended up staying for the entire meeting and expressed interest in learning more about Christ. We are excited to see how God will continue to transform this campus one student at a time.
Drew Stevenson shared, “Every year our kickoff is among the most important things we do. We cover Iowa’s campus with more than 8,000 flyers. It is a week of activity and throughout the year we always have students who came to Christ, were baptized, and are plugged into connection groups because of the effort we put in to inviting every person we can.”
