On August 24th The Salt Company hosted their Freshmen Group Kickoff, this group is the part of Salt Company that is designed specifically for freshmen. The weather was blue skies and sunny, but also very hot (heat index of 100). Even with these weather conditions, God was faithful and brought over 500 students to eat pizza, worship Jesus, and hear the gospel.
About 300 of these freshmen also signed up for a connection group. This means they will have the opportunity to meet weekly in small groups led by student leaders who can model Christ-like living, be their mentor and friend, and teach them the Bible.
Nathan Mowry, a Salt Company leader shared, “God did amazing things, not only did this many students come out to hear the gospel, but hundreds also signed up for Connection Groups.”
It’s been extremely encouraging to see how many of last year’s freshmen are already serving as student leaders to reach and influence this next class for Christ. We trust and pray that this transformation will again happen for many students this year. Praise God for the work He is doing among freshmen at Iowa State!
