During December God has been so gracious to us at Salt DSM. One of the most encouraging things that have happened during this month has been the expansion of our leadership team. At Salt Company we believe that our leaders are the lifeblood of our ministry and that we cannot reach students effectively without raising up more leaders to go into the harvest. (Luke 10:2) Our leadership team is expanding from 14 to 19 during the transition between Spring and Fall semesters. Adding many leaders is not something that typically happens in Salt Company, but we really feel that God has been doing some incredible work in the lives of some of our students and we would be not stewarding these gifts well if we did not place them in a position of leadership.
Our biggest concern with adding so many leaders was that it might cause some tension in our current leadership team, we were foolish to be concerned with that. Our leaders have been so welcoming to the new additions and we could not be more encouraged by the maturity of our leaders during this transition period. We are so excited to see how God will use these new leaders to make major impacts on the campuses and in the city of Des Moines!
One of our students, who goes to Grand View University, has been a guy whom we have been excited to see grow but has been hesitant to fully commit to getting involved with Salt Company. During December we had multiple conversations with this student, his name is John, that have shown us how much God is shaping him and growing him! John has reached out to us asking what he can do to help make the gospel more impactful on his campus. Grand View has been a campus that has been a bit of a struggle for us to get some traction on during the first year and a half of Salt DSM, but it is people like John that reminds us that God has a plan for reaching that campus, and we are so grateful to be a part of it.
As we look toward January we are so excited to spend some really intentional time on Gand Views campus to help students get connected with Salt Company with the hope of seeing them come to know Jesus in a completely new way, maybe for the first time! What God is doing in students like John is reminding us that he is at work here is Des Moines, and we are so blessed to be able to come alongside of God as he is doing incredible things in our city and at our campuses!
