Harvest Bible Chapel in Grimes has just wrapped up its “High Five Camp,” a VBS-style summer event for kids. It was a fun (and busy) week with nearly 100 kids in attendance. Kids learned about how to “Live Fully Alive” for Christ while also learning hands-on skills in one of five different “electives” chosen by the kids themselves. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade were able to hear the gospel of Christ and the practical nature of the electives provided a greater opportunity to reach the surrounding community.
The electives were taught by Christ-following experts from within Harvest in various fields like chefs, army officers, athletic coaches, musicians, and many others. These electives also give the opportunity to highlight the diversity of skills and gifts that the Lord has given each of us.
In addition to the electives, each day the students had large group Bible lessons, times of worship, and small groups where the gospel lessons were unpacked and applied to each individual child. Every night the gospel was shared with the families and this is the fourth year in a row that at least one child has come to know the Lord. This year, a child gave his life to Christ in a sweet moment where another child at the camp shared the gospel with him and helped lead him to the Lord!
Throughout the duration of the event, there were many rich conversations and opportunities to interact with unchurched
BCI partnered with Harvest Bible Chapel Grimes for this event through a financial grant from the Outreach Event & Evangelism Project Fund.
