The Salt Company’s vision for Iowa State’s campus is to reach more people than ever with the gospel of Jesus Christ. One way we want to do that is by getting more of our Salt Company student leaders into dorms and apartments across Ames where they’re able to lead Scripture focused, sermon-based Connection groups each week with their peers. This past year we ran roughly 100 Connection groups with a leadership team of 220 student leaders. We have spent much time this month thanking God for how He used the Connection Group ministry to draw people in, give them a home, and foster an atmosphere of Gospel-centered change.
One of the main focuses of the spring semester within Salt Company is the student leadership team. During the month of April, our staff had the opportunity of interviewing 192 students who applied to join Salt Leadership. After an interview process, we’ve asked 130 of them to lead in some capacity during the 2014-15 school year, joining roughly 100 students who will return for another year. We couldn’t be more excited about this next year and the students God has entrusted to us in partnering to reach the campus of Iowa State. Our prayer has been that God would expand our Connection Group ministry to 125 groups to meet the growing number of students who walk in the doors Thursday nights. With anticipation, it looks as if He will grant us that request and we couldn’t be more excited about it!
