Join us at First Family Church in Ankeny this August for a conference for preachers, Bible teachers, Sunday school teachers, and small group leaders! The focus of the conference will be to develop messages which are true to the biblical text, orally clear, interesting to listen to, and specifically connected to contemporary life.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Don Sunukjian. Dr. Sunukjian is Professor of Preaching and Chairman of the Department of Christian Ministry & Leadership at Talbot School of Theology on the campus of Biola University, La Mirada, California. Prior to coming to Talbot, Don served 14 years as senior pastor of churches in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Austin, Texas, and also taught preaching for 10 years at Dallas Theological Seminary. With doctorates in theology (Dallas Seminary) and communication (UCLA), he brings both scholarship and experience to his classroom.
Crucial topics will include:
- Determining the biblical flow of thought
- Pinning down the take-home-truth
- Finding the contemporary connections
- Structuring the final message
- Planning for oral clarity
- Delivering with freedom
In addition to the sessions, you will receive outline notes and sermon examples, and the first 50 registered will receive three paperback volumes of expositions on Philippians, James, and the Life of Jacob, written by Dr. Sunukjian. Discussions will be highly interactive, drawing situations and examples from the audience’s experiences.
Lunch will be provided each day.
The cost for the conference is just $25.
