The month of March flew by – we cannot believe it is already March 31st. God continues to be drawing students to himself and we are so encouraged by the work He is doing.
A highlight of March was our spring break missions trip to San Diego, California. We were able to bring 23 students along with 3 staff members. We partnered with ministries Kaleo and Bridge of Hope. These ministries are at work year round in the San Diego area and it was a blessing to be able to serve them for a week. At Bridge of Hope we got to do some work projects for them, as well as host a kids club in the afternoons. Bridge of Hope is located in some rough neighborhoods of San Diego where the majority of people are refugee families. We would go to the surrounding schools and invite kids as they got out of school to our kids club. Kids would flock to us after school and it was so fun to interact with them. Each day they would be so excited to see us. A lot of the kids at our camps were Muslim, so this was the first time they were hearing about Jesus. We would play games, teach a message, sing songs, give them a snack and just talk to them. It was so much fun. We also got to volunteer at a church service for mentally and physically handicapped people, which was way more impactful than we thought it would be. The faith of these people was so challenging – they were full of life and love. We also got to serve at a transitional home that takes people off the street who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. They go through 4 stages where they are learning about God’s word throughout the whole program. Every person we talked to at the transitional center had an amazing testimony. Many students were challenged to serve as they served over their spring break in Iowa City. They saw that it is possible to impact our community just like they impacted the San Diego community. We are so excited to see what God does with this trip!
We have seen God continue to bring new students to our ministry as well. We will have baptisms next weekend. I am excited to share with you all the stories of lives being changed. Thanks for your support!
