By Luke Peterson, TSC Ministry Leader,
September has been a month of settling into our normal rhythm while urgently pursuing the campus of Iowa State. Student led Connection Groups have been up and running all month. Our normal Thursday night gathering has seen the “Foundations” teaching series come and go. We then entered into a teaching series called, “Who is Jesus?” This is a semester long study in the book of Matthew.
One of the main focuses of the Salt Company in the fall is the pursuit of freshman. We had our Freshman Retreat on September 21-22 which saw 230 freshman attend. In addition to the Freshman Retreat, an 8 week course called “Gospel 101” is starting this coming week. There is a freshman only section which has over 50 students enrolled.
As you know, a value of Salt Company and Cornerstone Church is sending from within for Kingdom work through Church Planting. In Fall of 2019, the Salt Network will be planting a church in East Lansing, Michigan with the goal of reaching that city and the campus of Michigan State University. There have been several vision trips to East Lansing, as well as interest meetings for our students. There are over 35 students committed to either transferring to MSU or moving their lives to East Lansing to play a valuable role in the new church. We don’t anticipate this number to slow down. More and more students are committing every day.
