Each semester, the Salt Company at the University of Iowa offers an equipping class for our students to learn more about the Gospel. This class is eleven weeks long and goes through everything from creation, sin, Jesus’ sacrifice, and our mission as believers. It teaches students practically how to memorize scripture and how to share the gospel with others. This semester, we have had 97 students in class talking through their questions, diving into God’s word and challenging them to know God’s word. We invite all students to join us in this class and ask that all student leaders have completed it once joining leadership.

Along with Gospel 101, this spring we are offering a second equipping class for the students of Salt Company to sign up for. Our Salt director, David Livingston, is meeting for six weeks with students for a preaching lab. THE LAB focuses on digging deeper into God’s word and learning how to effectively communicate it to others. Any student who has previously taken Gospel 101 is welcome to join this class. We have 25 students coming each week for two hours. The students are learning from David and a few of Veritas Church’s pastors, and are challenged over the six weeks to break up the book of Romans into 18 different sermons. So far, the students have practiced prayerfully studying a small portion of the text to derive deeper meaning. By the end of the semester, the students will walk away with a fully prepped sermon and will get the chance to share this sermon with the class. We are so thankful to be scholars of God’s word and to know Him more in the process.
