By Olivia Ginther, The Salt Company Coordinator

In January, Salt Company started back up with our regular rhythm of Thursday night our gathering, connection groups weekly, and a one-on-one meeting with students and leaders. Since we began the summer team process in the fall, we are now preparing the students who will serve on a trip to East Asia this summer. We had our weekend-long summer team training, where all twenty-six students who are going overseas this summer gathered in Des Moines with the rest of the summer teamers from the network. There are over 200 students going overseas with the Salt Network this summer, and we gathered together to begin equipping the students with training on how to serve.

This summer, we are sending four teams, three teams of six and one team of eight to two separate places overseas. We held a meeting where we offered authentic food, practical tips, and answered all questions the students had. Last year, we were only able to send twelve students overseas, and we prayed that God would provide more students who are willing to sacrifice their summer and American comforts for the sake of the great commission in Matthew 28, and God answered our prayer! At the summer team training in Des Moines, the students bonded as teams and worked on team chemistry. They got to know each other and shared how Jesus has changed their lives. The summer team training left the students excited for a summer of faithfulness and boldness, and we are praying for these students to have a fruitful semester and summer!
