By Dakota Jackson,

God used this summer at Salt DSM in some incredible ways! The Lord brought people together from all over Iowa and the Midwest to Cottage Grove Church and Salt DSM every Thursday night this summer. Here at Salt we felt the Lord calling us to be good stewards of the opportunity that God laid before us, making the most of these students being brought together to learn from us and from one another. The sermon series this summer was through 1 and 2 Samuel, looking at 8 major life events in the life of King David and his time as king of Israel. This was such a sweet way to reflect on the life that David lived, but more so an opportunity to share how Jesus is the better king. The other thing that we focused on this summer was hosting events where these students from all over could interact and grow closer together. The final Salt of the summer was on June 26th and we threw an end of the summer bach with a Christmas in July theme. We had tons of people decked out in Christmas lights and sweaters while service cookies and hot chocolate. It was events like these that were such great opportunities for students to connect and invite their peers to. We are praising God for all the ways he used Salt DSM this summer!
