You may not think that summer is prime time in a college ministry, but Salt Des Moines and the unique opportunity to host a number of college students who are in the Des Moines area for the summer from other Salt Network churches. Many students who attend salt companies at other schools come to Des Moines for a summer internship or because that are originally from here. Because of that we get the unique opportunity to lead students who will hopefully go back to their schools having had a summer that was life giving and brought them closer to Jesus when summer can often be a really difficult time for many students.
Summer Salt started on June 6th with some yard games, root beer floats, a message by Dakota Jackson, and small groups around the church that night. It was such a sweet time to see almost 100 students from across the network of churches that we are a part of come together to worship with people they may not know well now but will grow closer together with as the summer continues. We are so excited to have the opportunity to lead these students and praying that God would use us to do his will.
