On Saturday, May 19, Swahili Baptist Church in Des Moines baptized fifteen youth as part of a weekend celebrating Pentecost. In addition to the baptisms, some youth from the church shared memorized scriptures and were awarded gifts recognizing their growth as disciples of Jesus.
Pastor Faustin Alobo said, “We had a blessed event of Pentecost as subjected with 141 people gathered together to celebrate.”
Swahili Baptist Church is a church plant supported by BCI and NAMB that is engaging Swahili-speaking refugees and other immigrants in Central Iowa.
As a way to bless other churches and financially support their own ministry, Swahili Baptist Church has a choir of more than 30 singers available to perform traditional Swahili worship for other BCI churches.
