Malik grew up in an unchurched and difficult home. His parents divorced when he was still very young and he experienced several horrible events in his life that left him feeling distant from God. In his twenty odd years of life, Malik saw his parent’s relationship slowly deteriorate, experienced the loss of multiple family members, and endured years of poverty.
Searching for answers, Malik came to Cornerstone Church knowing very little about God or Christianity. He was instantly interested. He believed that he could find blessing from God if he became a part of a church, so he signed up to be in a Salt Company connection group. When I heard a little bit about his story, and found out he was new to Cornerstone, I took him out for coffee. I shared the gospel with him and explained that going to church will not make God bless him, but that he can have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus. He was very interested, but wanted to understand more. So, we read sections of Romans together. At the end of our meeting, Malik asked if we could get together regularly to read the Bible so he can learn more about how to be in a relationship with God. It is an exciting time in his life and I am praying for his salvation!
