What is in it for me? Have you heard that question before? Maybe you have asked that when considering a ministry opportunity. With the right thinking and perspective, we have a real opportunity to be a blessing.
However, there are cultural predators in our society that exploit those fighting loneliness, fears, and insecurities. They prey on cycles of chaos, dysfunction, and ultimately destruction in people’s lives. It is the old battle of self-versus-others!
What is in it for me? Truth be known that question is heard more today than perhaps we’re willing to admit. Wherever people go, their character goes with them for better or worse.
When this attitude dissipates, our family, country, neighborhood and church will see blessings. A person of character who is foundationally solid in the Word of God can really change things for the better. Usually this healthy foundation in a person will bring less suffering and chaos in lives of those around them; such as family, friends and co-workers.
The lasting ministry of good character extends far into the fabric of our society, for the good of all. Equally this can be said of those predators that only care about what is in it for them. God’s plan is to develop a healthy expression of His character in the lives of His children.
Our men’s retreat takes place January 25-26, 2013 at Y-Training Conference Center in Boone. The Mighty Men of God will lead our men’s retreat. This will be a retreat focused on local church ministry. The retreat will address our attitudes and heart for others in our family, their neighborhood, and church. Young men ages 12 to senior adult are being asked to mobilize and attend this state wide men’s retreat.
There is perhaps never been a more pivotal moment in history related to manhood and our creation in the image of God. This could be that crucial moment to stand tall from age twelve to senior adults and hear from God the call for men to rise up for God and His kingdom. Our country leads the world in divorce and we need men to stand against the onslaught and separation that has so painfully undermined the home.
Mighty Men of God will focus on helping the local men and, in turn the church. This is a call from God for men and youth to stand behind their pastor to strengthen the local church. This retreat will provide substance for those who ask what is in for me and even a sharper focus on how this will this help the local church to best reach out and build relationships with others.
