Each year in September the Baptist Convention of Iowa encourages the local churches to receive a special offering for State Missions. The funds are used to support mission work in Iowa–for church planting, evangelistic ministries, and disaster relief.  All gifts to the offering are an investment in changed lives, Kingdom business and cooperative missions. Thank you for your support of this vital missions offering. The Baptist Convention of Iowa State Missions Offering is named for William and Garlinda Hyde.  The state missions offering predates the Hydes, but it rightfully bears their name. Garlinda was born in Estherville, Iowa. Bill was born in Cedar Rapids. They served as missionaries in the Philippines for 25 years.  Bill died there in a terrorist attack. As has been observed by many, one cannot take what has already been given. Long before a bomb went off at Bill’s feet, both he and Garlinda had given their all to the Lord. The Hydes represent missionary spirit and commitment.
