Major Progress in Iowa Disaster Relief

Iowa Disaster Relief (IowaDR) recently concluded a significant effort in Spencer and surrounding Northwest Iowa communities after extensive flooding. For the first time in a while, our disaster relief trailer was back in action, playing a crucial role in the recovery. Led by Pastor Gared Shaffer, who also stores the trailer at the church he leads, Solid Rock Church in Wapello, Iowa, our team provided essential services and support to those affected.

The results of this 53-day effort were remarkable: 192 volunteers from multiple state conventions worked tirelessly, resulting in 6 salvations, 100 homes cleaned, 1,100 showers provided, and over 1,000 loads of laundry done. These numbers reflect the compassion and dedication of our volunteers, as well as the tangible impact on the local community.

Short-Term Work with a Lasting Impact

We’re especially grateful for the spiritual fruit of this effort, with new believers connected to local Baptist churches for follow-up. Additionally, conversations with two local churches in Spencer about affiliating with the Baptist Convention of Iowa were very encouraging.

Praise God for the work done and the lives touched during this relief effort!
