One of the most significant ways BCI churches partner together is through giving toward gospel ministry through the SBC Cooperative Program. We are pleased to report that, in spite of these challenging times, Cooperative Program giving from BCI affiliated churches was over $70,000 in April, more than double the amount given to CP last April, which was $34,000.
The BCI Executive Board announced last month they intended to send on to the SBC Executive Committee, at least the same amount contributed in 2019 regardless of how much funds churches were able to give. That amount in 2019 was $17,000. Because of the steadfast generosity of churches, however, BCI will send on over $35,000 to SBC programs, more than double the amount from last year.
Praise God for the partnership and faithful giving of BCI churches!
Although CP giving was down in March, overall 2020 Cooperative Program giving is on track with expected giving. We recognize that many churches may have experienced a decline in their tithes and offerings and we are very encouraged by the commitment and confidence churches have demonstrated. We’re thankful for every church that participates in BCI and gives generously through the Cooperative Program. In a time of great uncertainty, we really are able to do more by working together.
why give to the cooperative program?
One distinctive of Southern Baptists is that they come together to give toward greater ministry. The Cooperative Program is the way that we partner together to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in our country and around the world.
