Building on A Solid Foundation – Cedar Rapids Men’s Conference

The Cedar Rapids location of the Iowa Men’s Conference was held last weekend at Community Baptist Church, Marion. This was the third Iowa Men’s Conference event, each one in a different region. Pastor Darin Ulmer headed up the event this year and was really encouraged by the responses to the event. “We had good fellowship and good food, for both body and soul.”

The event was originally scheduled for February but was rescheduled due to Covid. “May can be a hard month to schedule events, especially this year. It was a lot of work but I’m pleased by how the event turned out,” said Pastor Darin. Pastor David Miller from Southern Hills Baptist Church in Sioux City was the event guest speaker and Garrett Hufford from Veritas Church Cedar Rapids was the worship leader. “We had 6 churches represented among the attendees including 3 BCI churches from the region: Community Baptist in Marion, Immanuel Baptist in Cedar Rapids, and Shiloh Baptist in Waterloo. These three churches already have a strong tie but it is always good to strengthen these partnerships.”

The focus for the weekend was strengthening each man’s personal walk and impact for Jesus. The title of the event was Unshakeable and men were called on to “build their lives on the rock of God and His Word.” Pastor Dave’s teaching sessions challenged men to trust in the Word of God, run the race of faith in a consistent manner, and pursue unity in the body of Christ whose members come from every tribe, tongue, and nation. Pastor Darin said they are already planning next year’s event. “I pray that the importance of building on the solid foundation of Christ is something every man will take away from this year’s conference.”
