Chris Eller to Take New Job, Move to Part-Time at BCI

Since 2018, Chris has been serving BCI by taking care of BCI administration, leading events, and bringing together many pastors and church leaders in BCI events and meetings. Chris has recently taken a new position at Ruth Harbor Ministries in Des Moines. But don’t worry! He will still be part of BCI.

One of our key staff leaders at BCI is our Associate Director, Chris Eller.

Chris will continue to serve at BCI in the area of administration and finance. Though his work hours will be reduced, we are grateful to to benefit from his ministry experience through his continued involvement.

A CAREER IN MINISTRY

Prior to serving at BCI, Chris pastored at two BCI churches. Chris served at Grace Church in Des Moines for almost 20 years, from 1991 until 2010. His roles were in communications and care and for the last two years he served as the Pastor of Adult Ministries. In 2010, Chris took a position at First Family Church in Ankeny and served there for almost 10 years as the Pastor of Small Groups and Administration.

In 2018, Tim Lubinus approached Chris about serving at the Baptist Convention of Iowa and in 2019, he began his role as the Associate Director. His role has been overseeing support staff, managing the business administration side of the convention, as well as many roles working directly with pastors and church leaders in ministries focused on Multiplying Disciples.

TAKING ON A NEW ROLE

Chris’ new position as the Executive Director of Ruth Harbor Ministries will begin in June. Ruth Harbor is a Christian, pro-life housing ministries for expecting mothers who are in need of support and help. The mission of Ruth Harbor is, “To provide a Christ-centered home and life-skills coaching for mothers experiencing pregnancy or parenting young children.” You can learn more about Ruth Harbor Ministries on their website.

THE RELATIONSHIPS WILL BE MISSED THE MOST

When asked about what he will miss the most about his current BCI role, Chris said, “I will miss the relationships with pastors and BCI staff, serving alongside them to bring the gospel to Iowa. I will miss having daily interactions with the godly servants who are pastoring our churches.”
