We had a great week of VBS at First Family Church in Ankeny! Each night we learned different ways that Jesus Rescues! Over 200 kids heard the gospel, played games, and enjoyed snacks and craft time. Our leaders were able to build relationships and have spiritual conversations with the kids throughout the week.
We also had the opportunity to partner with Mission of Hope Haiti and Courtney Johnson for our missions offering this year. We were extremely excited that Courtney could be with us on the first night and speak to the kids! We challenged them to give $10,000 to buy a boat to help the ministry reach hard-to-reach areas in Haiti. Members of our church joined in with matching gifts this year. During our closing on Thursday night, we were able to call Courtney and share that our kids and church family had given $10,018 to completely pay for the boat! We’re so humbled to be used by God to get the gospel out to these areas of Haiti.
The girls gave more toward the week’s offering, so a number of girls got to cover several guy leaders in cool whip, cheese whiz, pickle juice, and all kinds of other foods! We were also able to provide Kona Ice treats for everyone to close out the week. It was a great week of learning, fun, and food!
