Linda Porter, wife of longtime BCI pastor Rob Porter, went home to be with the Lord on September 5th. She was 72.

Remembering the Life & Ministry of Linda Porter

Linda was a faithful companion to Rob throughout his years of pastoral ministry, serving alongside him in churches in Iowa and Washington and building relationships with pastors’ wives and others wherever they served. Even while battling cancer, Linda continued to serve the Lord and love the people around her.

“Linda was such a wonderful friend and a committed Christ follower,” Joni Wilkinson wrote. Joni, BCI’s WMU Coordinator, and her husband, Terry, shared a close friendship with the Porters through the Metro Pastors and Wives Fellowship. “I am so grateful for the hope we have in Christ for eternal life.”

Linda’s life and ministry remind us that faithful ministry often happens quietly, through years of loving people, supporting a spouse, welcoming others, and remaining steadfast through difficult seasons.

”Linda was a humble and faithful servant of Jesus Christ whose hospitality and graciousness were a blessing to many,” said Eric Schumacher, BCI Pastoral Ministry Director. “I and the BCI are grateful for her partnership with Rob in their service to Cornerstone Church in Altoona and the wider BCI family.”

We grieve with Rob, their children and grandchildren, and the many friends and churches who loved Linda. At the same time, because of the gospel, we give thanks for the hope we share in Christ and the promise of eternal life for those who trust in Him.
