On January 16, 2019, Israel and Paola Becerra were sworn in as US citizens at the Federal Building in Des Moines. Israel, a native of Mexico, serves as the pastor of Kairos Church in Marshalltown and Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Waterloo. Paola, his wife, is a native of Peru, is an employee of MICA in Marshalltown in addition to serving the churches. After graduating from Rio Grande Bible Seminary and serving churches in Texas and Georgia, Israel came to Iowa to start ministries among Hispanic peoples.
On February 6, 2019, Faustin Alobo and his wife sworn in as US citizens at the Federal Building in Des Moines. Faustin and his family fled the Democratic Republic of Congo to escape the violence of civil war, arriving at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa, Malawi in Central Africa. After 10 years and planting a church in the refugee camp they had the opportunity to move to the United States. Faustin planted Swahili Baptist Church soon after moving to Des Moines.
