Sioux City’s Southern Hills Baptist Church hosted a fantastic outreach event in July – the Family Fest Block Party. They hoped for 100 attendees, but were thrilled to welcome 174 people from all walks of life. They spread the word about the event through social media, their website, and connections with friends and family of church members and were blessed by a crowd that surpassed their expectations.

Fun for Everyone: Sharing Happiness Together

Teaming up with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Siouxland made the day even more special. The partnership brought inflatables like Noah’s Ark, a bouncy church, Skee Ball, and a huge slide. Southern Hills Baptist Church pitched in with their own bounce house, snow cone machine, and popcorn popper. From games like cornhole and face painting. However, the real feature were the many opportunities to share the gospel message. While serving families from a diverse range of backgrounds, including Native American and Hispanic, the church family found many opportunities to share the gospel and connect with other community members.

Spreading Good Vibes: Making Lasting Memories

Beyond the fun and games, the event had a deeper purpose. Volunteers creatively shared the message of Christ through the various activities. One example was using a Bible story while doing face painting for the kids. The event also had a touching moment when a Native American dad hearing the gospel message and comparing it to his own beliefs. The local fire station joined the party, adding to the excitement for kids. Each child received a special bag with gospel messages and an invite to the upcoming Bible Camp. The Family Fest Block Party truly connected people and rekindled a passion to reach their community with the gospel.

Southern Hills Baptist Church’s event was a beautiful example of bringing people together for fun and gospel opportunities.
