Saying Goodbye to Chris Eller After 6 Years at BCI

It’s with gratitude that we share that Chris Eller has decided to leave his part-time role at BCI (Baptist Convention of Iowa) to focus entirely on his position as the Executive Director at Ruth Harbor Ministries (RHM) as of August 31, 2023. Chris has been with BCI for six years, serving as Associate Director for five years before moving to part-time with the Pastor & Church Connection Team (PCCT) a year ago.

Even though Chris continued to work with us part-time, his responsibilities at RHM have grown steadily. Eventually it became clear that he needed to put his full attention into his new role, and that’s why he chose to step down from his BCI position. Tim Lubinus and the BCI Executive Board believe Chris has made a good decision and support his move.

While we’ll miss Chris’ presence on the Pastor Church Connections Team, we understand why he’s making this change. His new job at RHM requires a focused attention. The time commitment for his new role is a challenge that requires his best time and effort.

Looking back on his time at BCI, Chris cherishes the relationships he built with pastors all over Iowa. Chris said, “I have a lot of respect for these pastors, no matter the size of their church or community. I’m inspired by their dedication to spreading the message of the gospel in their city, regardless of the cost.”

We want to say a huge thank you to Chris for everything he did at BCI. His work in connecting, serving, and helping pastors and church leaders has been important in our mission to help church leaders multiply disciples, churches, and mission. Even though he’s moving to another role, Chris’ influence will continue to have a great impact in Iowa and beyond.

Chris, we pray for God’s blessing for you in this new chapter of his journey. Thank you!
