Metro Baptist Association held its annual Children’s Camp on July 28-31. Thirty five children celebrated Jesus and learned about the race that we all are running for Jesus. We truly enjoyed this year’s new location at Willowbrook Bible Camp. Every evening our camp pastor, Terry Wilkinson, shared with us from God’s Word. On Wednesday, Pastor Terry invited the children to respond to God’s Word to them. Not only did we have a great family time that evening, but four children responded with needs of salvation or rededications. God was also working in the hearts of two others who spoke with their leaders on Thursday who wanted to either confirm their relationship with Jesus or follow Him for the first time.
The campers were also challenged by our camp missionaries this year, Bill and Carol Bowers, to reach across the ocean by putting together hospice buckets. These buckets are filled with essentials that we take for granted but would not be readily available to suffering people in other countries. Our Bible study leaders, Kalonni Porter and Carolyn Power also challenged the children daily to run for Jesus and helped the children put together ministry kits that they could give to people in need to share the love of Jesus.
We want to thank the churches of the Metro Association as well as several of our sister churches in southern Iowa for their partnership in this year’s Children’s Camp. Without your help we could not have shared the love and call of Jesus to so many children. We look forward to what God will do in these children as we continue to work together.
