An Invitation to Reflect Christ’s Love
A New Article by Eric Schumacher
We invite you to check out a new article written by BCI’s Pastoral Ministry Director, Eric Schumacher. “A Command to Love and Be Loved” was published on the Common Good Magazine website on February 14th. It’s based on a fantastic devotional that Eric provided at a recent event for Iowa church planters, pastors, and church leaders.
Send Network Iowa Quarterly
The Send Network Iowa Quarterly is an event that emphasizes equipping and encouragement for church planters, pastors, and other church leaders who are invested in discipleship and church multiplication in Iowa. The event is a collaborative experience that engages the hearts and minds of those in the room to learn from one another about Jesus and what he is doing in Iowa through our churches.
Eric’s devotional was not what you might typically expect from this type of event which often focus on skills or strategies, and rightly so. Instead, we investigated the easily misunderstood scriptural instructions we find in many epistles to “Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss.” The emphasis of Eric’s message was the command to demonstrate toward one another a Christ-like love, and be recipient’s of this love as well, as a constant and necessary reminder of God’s grace.
Based on feedback from the leaders in the room, this message was a timely word of encouragement and grace.
